Rihla is an Arabic word meaning “journey”. In Islam, great emphasis is laid on supporting and facilitating travellers, and spending in their service is considered a noble deed.

Launched by As Siraat in 2021, the Rihla Food Project is a community-driven initiative aimed at easing the journey of railway passengers through the provision of fresh, hygienic, and nutritious meals. Every day, food boxes are prepared and distributed among passengers and railway staff at Dera Nawab Railway Station, Ahmedpur East.

The food is prepared using quality ingredients sourced from local suppliers, ensuring freshness while also supporting the local economy. Throughout the process of food preparation and packaging, strict health and safety protocols are maintained to guarantee hygiene and food safety.

Each food box weighs between 500 to 530 grams and is thoughtfully packed to meet the nutritional needs of the passengers. Once prepared, the boxes are transported to the railway station and personally distributed inside the train, ensuring that each passenger receives a meal with care and dignity.

By providing warm, nutritious meals to passengers, Rihla seeks to spread smiles, foster a sense of care and compassion, and make each traveller’s journey a little more comfortable and memorable.
